Directions for Use

1. Ask your veterinarian to give your pet an oral check-up. If it is necessary, they will probably clean your pet’s teeth using an instrument to remove existing hardened plaque on the teeth and gum lines. To prevent plaque build-up in the future, brush your pet’s teeth two to three times a week. Use a special pet toothbrush if possible, as most are designed to make the procedure easier.
2. Begin when your pet is young, as they are more likely to accept toothbrushing. However, even older animals can be trained to accept the procedure with patience and gentle handling.
3. Position yourself in a comfortable location, with your pet lying down in your lap or sitting calmly. Start by gently lifting up their lips and rubbing around their mouth to accustom them to the sensation.
4. Place some Pet Dent toothpaste on the brush and begin brushing gently. If resistance occurs, remove the brush and continue massaging the gums with your finger alone. You should be able to gently ease the brush back into your pet’s mouth and start brushing soon.
5. Brush with an up-and-down motion, paying particular attention to the gum line (where the teeth meet the gums). It is more difficult to brush the inside surfaces of the teeth, especially for cats. In that event, consider wrapping a soft cloth around your finger for better access.
