Pegaforte Oral Paste Broad Spectrum equine parasiticide with a pleasant apple flavour. It is specifically formulated to control and eliminate major worms affecting horses, such as large strongyles, small strongyles (Cyathostomum spp., Cylicocyclus spp., Cylicostephanus spp., Cylicodontophorus spp and Gyalocephalus spp.), ascarids (Parascaris equorum), pinworms (Oxyuris equi), hairworms (Trichostrongylus axei), intestinal threadworms (Strongyloides westeri), large-mouthed stomach worms (Habronema muscae and Draschia spp.), lungworms (Dictyocaulus amfieldi), cestodes (Anoplocephala spp.) and Bots (Gasterophilus spp.). Additionally, it is effective for the control of skin lesions caused by Habronema spp. and Draschia spp. cutaneous larvae (summer sores) and Onchocerca spp. microfilariae (cutaneous onchocerciasis).

Directions For Use

1. Determine the horse’s body mass accurately to maximize the use of the paste.
2. Each marking on the syringe delivers enough paste for 100kg body mass.
3. Administer orally using a disposable syringe at a dose rate of 200 μg of ivermectin and 2,5 mg of praziquantel per kg of body mass.
4. Insert the syringe in the gap between the front and back teeth and deliver paste onto the back of the tongue.
5. Immediately raise the horse’s head for a few seconds to ensure swallowing of the paste.
6. Before administration, ensure that the horse does not have food in its mouth.
7. One 10g syringe contains sufficient paste to treat one 600kg horse at the recommended dose rate.

Proposed Worm Control Programme

Mares: Regular dosing at 6-8 week intervals on pastures during summer and autumn.

Stallions: Treat at least twice during the year.

Foals: Initial treatment at + 2 months of age and followed by strategic treatment at 6-8 week intervals.

Bots: Bot flies are active during late spring and peak during autumn. The bots are then carried through the winter. Treatment against the bots that are attached to the stomach wall is essential in order to remove the established burdens in the autumn and winter.
