If you're planning for a show/pony party or simply need a first aid kit at the stables, it's important to prioritize a natural calming product as the first item on your list. This will help to decrease your horse's anxiety and stress levels while you care for them, or while you wait for the vet to arrive. |

| Injuries resulting in abrasions or lacerations will need to be cleaned before applying a bandage. Fresh water can first be used to wash away blood and debris, followed by cleansing with Effivet Skin & Wound Cleaner or iodine. |

Dermavet can be applied to any wound and is safe to use under a dressing. If a wound requires dressing, apply Dermavet over the gauze and if necessary, a layer of Soffban or cotton wool held in place by a Cipla band. Once cleaned the wound can be dressed and bandaged. Duct tape can be used over the bandage to secure it especially if the hoof is involved. |

Injuries to the hoof can be life threatening especially if it is a penetrating wound, so prompt care is important. Animal lintex can be applied immediately to reduce infection but also to help draw out an abscess. Engemycin spray would be used for thrush or minor abrasions. |

| Sudden changes in food, exposure to toxins or even stress can result in diarrhoea. If it does not settle after 48 hours of Diomec then once again a visit from your vet is advised. |

| Flies are a nuisance but more so when your horse is under the weather or has an injury, so always have a spray on hand. This is also especially important in a travelling first aid box to prevent midges and flies that may transmit disease from biting your horse. |
